Slim Jims have been seen as a negative tool that some people use to break into cars however this tool can be very useful when dealing with a lock out on a job site when a lock smith is not close by. Remember to only use a slim jim on a car that you own or that you have written permission to work on. If someone asks you to use a slim jim on their car be sure to look at their proof of ownership and have them sign a permission contract before you start helping them. Remember that you are not required to help someone on the side of the road (because city or paid help will visit them soon).

Use A Slim Jim

Slim Jims are used by sticking a long piece with a hook on the end between the door and the window. Then find the bar that unlocks the car. Pull up on the slim jim once it is hooked and you will be able to unlock the car. The only works on certain makes and models of cars because some have a metal plate that blocks any slim jim or other device.
