Contract termination letters are necessary in many vendor relationships with Contractors. If you are getting into a business relationship with a contractor it is important to write down how the end of the relationship will happen. This helps both parties know how much time to give and how the termination should be delivered. Contractors respect owners who pay their bills when they say they will and give the contractor notice if there are not funds available for their next project. We hope this information helps you with your next contract termination and please burn as few bridges as possible. You never know when you will need their help again.

30 Day Contract Termination Letters

Contractor Bob,

Thank you for your business. As mentioned in our agreement I would like to provide this 30 day notice to terminate our agreement on 4/1/2010. While we enjoy your work and appreciate all that you are doing, our funds are no longer available and we hope that we can work with you in the future. At this time we would also like to schedule a meeting in two weeks to review our work together.

Contract Termination Letters

Contract termination letters should always include who is terminating with whom and when the termination is taking place. Sometimes it may be appropriate to mention why the termination is happening but normally it is just important to give notice and keep it simple to avoid any confusion or delays.

Business Contract Termination Letter

In most businesses like Contractors Warehouse we request a 30 written notice for any open account. This will let us know that you do not plan on continuing your relationship the way it currently is set up. You are welcome to email, fax, or mail the contract termination letter directly to us.

Vendor Contract Termination Letter

If you are working with a vendor it is important to let them know as soon as you can if you are planning on terminating your agreement. A 30 day notice is normal for most vendor contract termination letters.

Agreement Termination Letters

If you are working with a verbal agreement then it may be appropriate to have a verbal notice instead of a termination letter. We do not suggest this and we always suggest documenting the relationship so that if there are any questions about what was agreed upon it will be in writing and not just on a hand shake. Sometimes this is not possible or you may have an ongoing relationship with the vendor. In this case still give a termination notice verbally so there are no surprises.

North Kitsap High School is located just down the street from Contractors Warehouse. North Kitsap High School is also located across the street from the Jr. High School on Hostmark near Hiway 305.

High School Contractors

Many contractors who work on the school and even the school itself come to Contractors Warehouse for safety gear and building supply. There are also many contractors that work at schools which feed students into NKHS. Some of these schools include Suquamish Elementary, Poulsbo Elementary, Kingston Jr. High, North Kitsap Jr. High and Breidablik Elementary.

If you work for the school or will be working near North Kitsap High School, please be sure to come by the warehouse to pick up new Class III safety vests so that you can be visible both during the day and at night. Class III is worn by people who are working around cars and traffic that may go up to highway speeds. New student drivers, buses, and parents looking for children can make the School zone unsafe for a road worker. Be sure to use the appropriate visibility clothing , so you can be seen in the dark cloudy Poulsbo weather this winter.

North Kitsap High School now has many programs for students, including tennis, sailing, Jazz, and football! Each of these clubs and sports need some tools so that they can function correctly. People in cross-country may run by Contractors Warehouse to drink water or pick up some reflective tape for their attire. Students from “knowledge bowl” might visit Contractors Warehouse to learn about the history of tooling in the Pacific Northwest. Whatever your club or association is, please come to Contractors Warehouse and check out all that we have to offer because we have such a wide variety of supply.

Replacing residential windows and doors is necessary for normal maintenance. Windows and all glass is a liquid and eventually becomes fragile. Doors may last many years but at some point will need to be replaced because the wood will become sun and weather damaged making it brittle. This guide will help you pick out the right windows and doors along with the right tools for the job. Here are some things to consider:

Does the home window protect you from sun and UV damage?

Will it help keep your home closer to the temperature you want?

How safe are your windows and doors with young children?

Will your windows and doors keep the inside of your house secure?

How much sound will your windows and doors keep out?

What do you windows and doors look like?

Will your windows and doors raise your home value?

You will need to decide weather you are doing a retro fit or a full frame installation. The retro fit is less expensive because you are mostly replacing glass and the full frame is more costly. The full frame may look better and may help keep out the weather more efficiently.

First you may want other companies to provide estimates to compare pricing. All of these estimates should be free. It is easy to find a national company that is offering free estimates on window and door installs.

It is important to follow our contractor guide if you do not know how to pick contractors. These are some things to ask before the contractor comes to provide an estimate on your doors and windows:

How many samples will you be bringing?

Will you provide photos and examples of your work?

What type of license and insurance do you carry?

What, if any, warranties or guarantees do you offer?

How long will the estimate take?

Also, be assured the sales professional will give you a deal to sign on the spot, but we have found that a good deal will last at least long enough for you to talk it over and sleep on it.

Contractors Warehouse has many of the tools and hardware that you will want to do the job. Just give us a call and we will deliver nails, hammers, screw drivers, sand paper, and all kinds of other materials you will need for the job.

Contractors Warehouse also suggests checking with local contractors, like John Paulson, who can do high end custom work with the top tools from Contractors Warehouse and contractors you can depend on:

Paulson Custom Builders Inc
Poulsbo, WA 98370-0168
(360) 697-2483

Contact us directly for more information on who can help with your next window or door project and ordering materials.

Professional Contractors Insurance

Contractors Warehouse provides complimentary information about “contractor’s insurance” online and at our Poulsbo location in Washington. There are many types of contractors insurance available, however we only suggest using insurance companies that put in writing that they will pay any legal bills if a suit arrives.

Contractor’s insurance should cover you as a contractor if you are injured for some reason both on and off the job, since in some cases the employer is not able to cover these types of incidentals. Be sure you have your own safety net with a contractor’s insurance company you can trust. Contractors should also be aware of pollution insurance, which is a type of contractor’s insurance that may save you from legal problems associated with chemicals you may have used on the job site. Be sure you know what your policy covers when it comes to environmental public liability.

Contractors Liability

Liability and risk is the name of the game when it comes to contractor’s insurance, so lower your own liability using safety systems and procedures. Contractors that use more sustainable and environmentally friendly products may be less likely to suffer from legal problems associated with pollutants, so we predict the contractor’s insurance will take this into consideration shortly.

It is important to know about your local license and certification boards if you are a contractor. They can help you find work, ensure that you know about new safety standards, and many times provide the appropriate license that you need to be legal where you work. Some of the states that we work with have their own license boards or other types of state associations.

Sharpening Cutting Tools for Wood, Metal, or Concrete

Concrete: Putting an edge on carbide bits, silicone carbide or diamond tooling is most commonly used. The design of these bits are to chisel – breaking the hard concrete – the spiral designs are for waste removal. What I’m trying to say is the sharp edge is to break the concrete into small enough pieces so as to easily remove the waste creating a hole. Diamond concrete cutting blades can load up and not cut. I’ve been told – pumas block being very soft. Cutting through it will open up the diamond cutters. ****please note concrete dust and particles. if breathed in, are dangerous – it’s a mineral and doesn’t just go away – a must is to use protection. Metal cutting tools: The cutting of different metals can get complicated. Sharpening with bits is best done by sharpening services. The angles and reliefs are too difficult for me to maintain. There are good and bad sharpeners. Choose with care.

Wood cutting tools – THE BEST TOOLS ARE NORMALY SHARP TOOLS Sharpening techniques

Tools are normally made of either steel or carbide. Steel chisels and hand planer blades. I like to use Japanese wet stones for honing. The front and back sides of these tools need polishing to a mirror finish, removing all tooling marks. My finest grit stone is 6000. This puts a fantastic edge on the tools.

Carbide tipped saw blades

The professional sharpening service again. They are going to use diamond wheels. Different sizes of shapes and grits. Our local service goes up to 1000 grit. That is sharp when it comes to saw blades. Normally what I’m used to is 600 grit grind for the finer quality blades. Note, when you purchase saw blades, try to find out the grind grit. It will make your job a lot easier with the sharpest blades. Single spur/single flute. Double spur and single may be incorporate with a double flute. Lead cutter lip to reduce chipping. Single, one cutter. Double, two cutters. The flutes can be coated with molybdenum. This reduces friction, keeping the heat down, making the drilling process easier. Users do like this. Nail cutting vs. non nail cutting. Extra hardened and or alloyed special steels. Sharpening is normally done with an auger bit file or extra slim taper files and sometimes diamond files. Shafts are normally hex in shape. Basin bits are becoming less available. Quick change shanks are becoming more common. Extra length shafts for accommodating counter bores.

Protection Clothing For Safety

Protection Clothing has evolved into a necessity for contractors and businesses who work on construction projects. Various types of protection clothing that Contractors Warehouse provides include hard hats, UV protection clothing, men’s rain jackets, gear for women, heavy black gloves, plastic industrial gloves and rain boots. Hard helmets are typically used as necessary protection when working in environments where objects could fall from above you. They come in sizes from small to five extra large and in every color possible – even pink for the real men. Contractors Warehouse does not provide hard hats for recreation, such as bike helmets, but you can buy many varieties of industrial helmets at wholesale quantities.

Gloves Are Part Of Protection Clothing

Good gloves are hard to find and Contractors Warehouse provides top of the line gloves that are made to last. These gloves range from heavy black gloves used with cement construction to plastic gloves that are waterproof and keep the weather out. Industrial gloves, like other protection clothing, are necessary for safety if you are a contractor or work with your hands in rough environments. There are welding gloves, gloves for working with glass, ice etc. Commercial heavy grade rain boots and gear for women is also available at Contractors Warehouse. Women also play a role in construction and deserve protective products they can use. If you want industrial grade and it is protection clothing, then Contractors Warehouse is the first place to contact. Ready To Buy?

Parabolt Concrete Anchors and Taper Bolt Anchor

At Our Warehouse in Kitsap County!

The best one might be straw. North West Electric Co. about 30 years ago needed to hang lighting and conduit from a straw ceiling in a gymnasium. The location was in a town known as Bellevue, Wa. The straw was held together with a light weight concrete spray type impregnated coating. They formed the material in small blocks ie., 3′ X 4′ ten inches thick. They ended up using extra large toggle style bolts to hold the channel and/or other mediums. We used to have a baseball stadium called Sicks Stadium. Our ball team was called the Seattle Rainiers. We had a beer called Rainier, too. One of the soda companies put up a distribution center. For their roof they used light weight domed concrete dropped into location, pieces about 10′ X10′. As thin as one inch. How do you hang four inch fire suppressing lines, sprinkler etc..? Rawl Plug Company made a fastener they call H/S. It’s a short profile, two piece, high strength steel flush anchor. Next day air freight from the east coast and the customer was very happy. They still had a few failures drilling the thin concrete, but no problems with the anchors. Good job Rawl Plug. Of all the concrete fastener manufacturers in the industry, I truly believe Rawl is the best, highest quality, most dependable and a leader all others follow repeatedly. There is always one company that is the best!

ONE MORE Fastening Anchor
Threshold fastening can end up being a difficult job with the wrong fastener. Use care when using plastic style fastener systems. The best one I’ve worked with was the Rawl Plugs’ fiber anchor. It’s has a hard fiber outer shell and a lead inner hollow core. What an anchor! How about over two thousand pounds on a number ten screw. Very vibration resistant, what a threshold anchor – no call backs. What’s a call back? Another unneeded expense. Maybe your next job! It takes a life time to build a good reputation and with one mistake it can be lost.

In Washington the source for requirements and specs is the Department of Labor and Industries. For ease of access most of our customers use the internet to access labor and industry guide lines. Our primary inventory sources are:

CAPITAL SAFETY

DBI/PROTECTA INTERNATIONAL

OLYMPIC SYNTHETICS PRODUCTS

AMERICAN SAFETY LINE

Getting In And Out Of Your Harness – Fall Restraint Systems
Body harnesses are made one size fits all, within reason, and individual sizing. There are many different comfort ranges, padding, D rings, front and back hook up, and belt loop holes for your work belt (tool bags). There are different snap and locking systems. Lanyards: There are many choices to make. Soft stop vs. no soft stop ref: labor and industries requirements. The base for all the parts of the fall restraint system appears to conform to a 5000 lb. safety factor. The lanyard may be chain or rope (nylon or web style). Lengths will vary from 3′ to 50′ depending on needs. Nylon is used because of its stretchability (shock absorbency).

Flat Web Style

The flat web style, I believe, is less likely to roll under the feet vs. a round rope. The web style can be made with an adjustable buckle ie. 25′ down to about 13′. Find out more about Fall Restraint Systems by contacting our office. Contractors Warehouse can find the right fall systems for your next project. Call them directly and speak with someone that has been in the building industry for over 30 years.

To acquire and learn about the varied fasteners for concrete a specialty supply house is the only way. The normal retail store doesn’t handle much in specialty concrete fasteners or want to. Years ago our fathers used a tool they called a star drill. It required a large hammer and a few blood blisters. The tool is still made and sold through retail distribution. I saw my father and grandfather use these obsolete tools. Today we use mostly what is referred to as a rotary hammer. This tool has been out for a long time. I would guess, the late fifties. The hammers I’ve seen thirty-three years ago were mostly Black and Decker, Skil or Milwaukee tools. There were a few German, Swiss and English tools in the market too. Our best resource for this information is the old privately owned independent repair centers. They an invaluable resources in many ways. Always make good friends with these guys. They normally respect the quality in the tools they work on. They also can give you a positive bias opinion of tools you may be interested in. Years ago each manufacturer designed a receiver unlike its competitor, probably due to patents. Then came the universal adapter. The first ones I ran into were A taper and B taper. It was a wedge system that required a round or flat drift key to knock the bits out to change them. Recently they have come out with a quick change adapter. The taper adapters were a bother to use. The newer QC (quick change) is a cost saver for the larger rotary hammers.

Drilling With Shank SDS

The expense of bits using the larger shank SDS adds up quickly. The quick change adapter will normally cost about $85.00 U.S.. The two primary styles are SDS-Plus and SDS-Max. It appears that this dominant style started in Europe and now we have adapted to it. It won’t be that many more years and the adapter style (A and B) will be obsolete and not available.

Adapter Style Hole Drilling

Note: If you still have the adapter style with the flat key knock out and you lose your key, major H.S. drill manufactures have k.o.’s in their lines. There are many different sizes, so make sure you’re ordering the right one. The rotary hammer can be rented or purchased. The small hammers run about $225.00 and the larger ones start at $500.00. A rental fee should run $25.00 to $35.00 per day. Should I buy or rent? What’s your time worth?

Slim Jims have been seen as a negative tool that some people use to break into cars however this tool can be very useful when dealing with a lock out on a job site when a lock smith is not close by. Remember to only use a slim jim on a car that you own or that you have written permission to work on. If someone asks you to use a slim jim on their car be sure to look at their proof of ownership and have them sign a permission contract before you start helping them. Remember that you are not required to help someone on the side of the road (because city or paid help will visit them soon).

Use A Slim Jim

Slim Jims are used by sticking a long piece with a hook on the end between the door and the window. Then find the bar that unlocks the car. Pull up on the slim jim once it is hooked and you will be able to unlock the car. The only works on certain makes and models of cars because some have a metal plate that blocks any slim jim or other device.
