It appears that good rain gear will last around five years or so. One trade that stuck in my mind are riggers out of Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and their statement of the five year life. Anther story is that fishermen in Alaska say eight out of ten brands of gear worn on the commercial boats are the Grundens brand. Our national warehouse for the U.S. is right here in river city - Poulsbo. The fellow who founded the town had a first name of Paul and "bo" is Scandinavian for village. This is a Scandinavian community settlement of Finns, Swedes and Norwegians.

Qualifying the customer:

- what can the customer afford?
- are their needs heavy duty or light duty?
- color preference?
- safety requirements?
- hood, no hood or snap on hood (the hood will restrict visibility)

I've taken care of people with needs for rain wear and gear for 27 or so years. Everyone has a general want or need. Anticipation of everything you can think of comes up. It's my job to qualify the customer and assist in making their decision-making easier. Normally, I'll start out the conversation that the rain gear is expensive. It's no fun having a dissatisfied customer complaining about rips, tears and/or leaks. Then solving the problems that may arise. The easy solution is sell the best! "GRUNDENS" of Sweden appears to be, if not the best, right with them. There are no "no" returns or warranty requests. All rain gear can slice, snag, melt, burn and/or break down with ultraviolet light (sunlight) or just age.
